Start by shopping locally, a wise man once said, “if you want to shop ethically, you need to buy local”. Purchasing items from your supermarket labelled as ‘local’ can be shipped from hundreds of miles away, so shop local businesses and know where your produce is coming from.

Purchase second hand products to prevent them from ending up in landfills. Charity shops are a treasure-trove;you never know what you are going to find! These shops are great if you want to find something unique and not just another generic product of “high street fashion.”

Prefer to do your shopping from home?

Purchase from online ethical and reputable brands. Shop for thoughtful presents without compromising on your ethics, buying natural products will not only benefit the environment but also benefit your own lifestyle, and with the beauty of online shopping; all the information can be found at the click of a button. Thanks to technology, discovering new ethical brands online could not be easier.

Tip #4

Gift an experience for Christmas, it’s a great way to cut down on packaging and with plenty of online or real-life courses to choose from; there is something for everyone! Just think about how much money you will be saving on wrapping paper, not to mention your waste reduction!

Shop natural fibers such as organic cotton, bamboo and hemp. If you’re planning on purchasing your holiday jumper or winter clothing, just make sure you check the label first.

There is an ethical solution for just about anything these days, don’t limit your options! Do you have loved ones who appreciate fine home décor or perhaps they have a love of fabulous duvet sets, well guess what; there’s an option for that too. Buying ethical is a statement! It’s a better way of living!
